We take our ice cream very seriously here in sunny Florida. So after a year and a half of scoping out as many locally-owned ice cream shops as possible, we’ve painstakingly compared, ranked, argued over, and finally agreed upon this list.
We present to you now the Top 5 BEST quality ice-cream experiences available on the Space Coast :
5. The Fat Donkey
Cocoa Beach & (soon to be!) Indian Harbour Beach

Located in the hub of Cocoa Beach as a small, walk-up window, this spot wins for overall most creative menu offerings. Their ice cream flavors are plentiful, and so are their “extras” – warm churro ice cream sandwiches, gummy bear popsicles, the “Jacksmasher” (layers of pie and ice cream stuffed in a cone), just to name a few.
A fun, creative menu goes a long way with us- definitely makes for a memorable experience!
4. Surfin’ Turtle
Satellite Beach
The two unique things that won our hearts at this small stand were the better-than-Disney dole whip and the Jarritos floats (you know, those colorful Mexican sodas that come in flavors like Mango and Grapefruit? Pair it with ice cream and it’s magic). It’s just a bonus that they have live turtles and giant Jenga blocks to entertain our littles while we all enjoy our treats.

3. Here’s the Scoop
Melbourne

Hidden down a small alley in downtown Melbourne you’ll find a family-owned, homemade ice cream shoppe. With regularly changing, fresh flavors, we think the taste here is the best you’ll find in Melbourne. Homemade is always best!
2. Ossorios
Cocoa Village

As a quaint bakery that offers fresh pastries, pizzas and sandwiches, it may be easy to overlook the ice cream counter here. Tip- DON’T. This stuff is all homemade (can you tell we’re partial to the homemade stuff? It really does taste better than store-bought!) Every flavor we’ve tried is pure, unadulterated goodness- nothing tastes overly doctored with artificial flavor.
1. Old Grant Creamery
Grant-Valkaria

If you want to experience the best overall ice cream spot the Space Coast has to offer, you’ve got to make the drive to the southern most part of the Space Coast to Old Grant Creamery at the historic Grant Station.
This place earned its #1 spot not only because of its amazing homemade ice cream offerings but because of its atmosphere : old-fashioned charm meets tropical oasis.
We’re obsessed with the cream soda floats here and the triple berry cheesecake ice-cream. Enjoying it all in a sandy, thatched-roof, palm tree covered space right across from the river makes the experience pure perfection on a summer night.
